Welcome-----This is a very basic website. No bells or whistles.

This web site links to my blog "Cottage and Yard".

The blog has information about things I have done in and around the cottage and out in the yard.

I hope you can find something of interest there. You can go to the blog from the link in the left-hand column or directly to some of the articles (posts) described below.

I also have --------FOR SALE------- Garlic bulbils.

These are the "topsets" of stiff neck garlic that can be planted this spring and will grow into "rounds" by this fall. These "rounds" can then be dug up and replanted this fall and will grow into heads of garlic for harvest next fall.

The strain of garlic I have to offer is known as Martin's Heirloom. It is a stiffneck variety that I have found stores very well over the winter.

This method of growing your own garlic takes an extra season but the cost is much less than buying bulbs. Bulbs are not usually available in the spring so you would have to wait until the fall to purchase and plant them anyway.

Here is a picture (not a very good picture) of the type of bulbils that will be sent and the packaging they will come in. I believe in recycling so the shipping container is made from reused boxes and the packaging is old newsprint. I also believe in keeping costs down as much as possible so approximately 50 (more or less) bulbils will be shipped in the small box via "First Class" package rate of $1.51 (for three ounces total weight) and the bulbils will cost $2.49, for a total cost, including shipping, of $4.00.

Just as a test I planted 15 bulbils in a half gallon milk container to see how many sprouted. This was done at the end of February and was set under a flourescent shop light in my basement where the temperature averages 55F to 60F.

The picture (not a great one but still a picture) was taken at the beginning of April and shows that all 15 bulbils sprouted and their average height is between 4 and 5 inches.

You can e-mail me at "saw610@aol.com" with questions or for payment instructions ( please put GARLIC in the subject line) or you can go to xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com ( I'm working on this)and simply make a PayPal payment and the bulbils will be shipped out the next day

I am hoping to have garlic bulbs of several varieties available for planting this fall. I will provide that information when I know how much I will have available. First I set aside what I need to plant, then I set aside what I want to eat, that which is left I can offer for sale.
